Crime Scene

Warning! Pictures May Be Disturbing
To Those With Good Taste

While driving along the back roads of Massachusetts yesterday, I was horrified to witness a disturbing site.  It appeared to be a crime scene of horrific proportions.  The victims were being ignored by other motorists, so, I pulled over to get a better look.

It appears that several people, er, creatures were massacred, perhaps by massive deflation, and left laying about on the lawn.  Victims included a man in a red suit, two snow people, and a fourth unidentified victim (rumored to be either the wife, assistant or life partner to the first victim.).  Surely others could see this scene and be as shocked and horrified as I was?  No one, however, stopped to take notice or give aid, so, I continued on my way as well.

Truthfully, I don't know what is more of a crime, these things inflated or deflated.  This is, of course, the opinion of a woman who thinks 65 year old cardboard boxes make the perfect Christmas decorations so what do I know?

  1. This post made me LOL. my Izzy dog is always rooing her head off to alert me to the menacing Blow-Up Santa on the neighbor's lawn... she especially freaks out when it is deflated!!

  2. Glad to hear your dog has the right reaction...screaming aloud and fear. These pics were taken in your neighborhood BTW... (Well, the shop neighborhood at least!)

  3. Ha! Drive down to *our* neighborhood (Oakland Beach), Christine, and you'll see these on every block. Plus, a lot of houses tricked out in blinking light strings a la Snoopy's doghouse in "A Charlie Brown Christmas." OY.

  4. People with blow ups might as well post a giant sign, "I shop at Wallyworld and I'm proud of it". Just the epitome of bad taste in my opinion and they never stop at just one do they?

  5. This is a great blog post. I'd never stopped to think of it this way and isn't it a sad commentary that no one bothered to stop by to give some aid? The state of the world now days....

  6. There is a beautiful old house in our neighborhood with a wonderful yard that they light up with these wonderful original lighting designs all year - from summer right through to Christmas. My husband told me he had some "bad news" a few weeks ago; turns out he had noticed an inflatable "thing" in the yard of the lovely house. We decided it was a gift, from a family member who knew they "liked things that light up" and they felt obligated to put it out. Then, I drove by the other day and noticed another...sigh..
